The YouTube account for Nagoshi Studios has been deleted alongside all its related videos, a move that has come not long after reports emerged that NetEase had pulled funding for its debut project, Gang of Dragon.
Gang of Dragon was announced during The Game Awards 2025, and features Ma Dong-seok in the leading role in what looks to be an action-brawler in the vein of Like A Dragon/Yakuza, which makes sense considering Toshihiro Nagoshi fronted that franchise for years while at SEGA. The game is set in Kabukicho, which is the nightlife district of Shinjuku, Tokyo, with players controlling a high-ranking member of a Korean crime syndicate, Shin Ji-seong, and becomes involved in a conflict that sees you forging intense connections with other people, thus forcing him to confront his own sense of purpose.
However, a Bloomberg report from earlier this year stated that NetEase had withdrawn funding for Gang of Dragon, having allegedly made the decision after finding out the game required an additional $44.4 million to reach completion.
Nothing has been announced by Nagoshi Studios regarding the status of the project or the company itself, but the signs aren’t exactly positive in wake of this latest development.
