Namco Bandai officially announced Enslaved for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. This new tactical action-adventure game, developed by Ninja Theory (the Heavenly Sword folks), is set in a post-apocalyptic world some 150 years in the future.
The world has transformed, with dwindling human populations, and merciless robots left over from past wars. You will take on the role of Monkey, a strong and brutish loner, and his AI partner Trip, a tech savvy young woman from a peaceful community.
Both characters become captured by a mysterious slave ship, which is rumored to harvest people. Realizing that Monkey is her only way out, she hacks into a slave headband to enslave Monkey and link them together. If she dies, he will also die. The idea of the game is to make sure both characters work together. Monkey will wield a staff to attack enemies and can use his enemy’s weapons against themselves.
The game is scheduled for release in 2010 and features a stellar list of industry professionals, including Andy Serkis, renowned for his role as “Gollum” in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He will play the lead role of Monkey. Nitin Sawhney, who has credits to some 40 films and eight studio albums, will compose the score, while Alex Garland, who provided the screenplay for 28 Days Later and the novel The Beach, will take charge of writing the script and in-game dialogue.
