The first details on Guerrilla Games’ hotly anticipated Killzone 3 have assaulted the web overnight courtesy of North America publication GamePro, confirming – among other things – that Uncharted creator Naughty Dog is involved in the development of the sequel.
According to Internet gossips, the studio has co-created the graphics engine for the PS3 shooter, suggesting the game will stack up favourably against the award-winning Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ sumptuous visual feast.
As for the game itself, Killzone 3 looks set to feature Jetpacks, an arctic landscape, new weapons (including a devastating tool known as The Wasp), a mission where players must rescue ISA Captain Narville and, most interestingly, can be played in full 3D.
Other details include the fact combat will remain largely “unchanged” from its predecessor, though the game itself is supposed to be “bigger” and will feature more diverse locales (such as the aforementioned arctic setting). Apparently, the sequel is set to encapsulate the feeling “of being in a place far away from home, outnumbered by people who want to kill you".
Sounds like a winner to us. Expect a formal announcement from Sony at E3 next month.
