"Numerous trusted sources close to Naughty Dog" have told IGN that Amy Hennig, lead writer on the Uncharted series and Uncharted PS4, has left the company under troublesome circumstances.
The sources claim that Hennig, whose storied career in the industry has included writing credits in Legacy of Kain and the Jak & Daxter series, was "forced out" by Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, two other company figureheads largely associated with The Last of Us.
Straley was game director on The Last of Us, while Neil Druckmann was creative director and writer. Druckmann was previously co-lead game designer and co-writer on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, a role in which he worked alongside Hennig, who was creative director and lead writer on that title.
There’s little else in the way of details at this point, but IGN has reached out to Sony and Naughty Dog for clarification and official comment. Allegedly, Hennig’s last day at Naughty Dog was yesterday, March 3.
We’re waiting to hear more, and you’ll know it when we do.
