NBA 2K25 is set to shut down on October 30, 2026, 2K Sports and Take-Two have announced, with the game being delisted from all digital storefronts as a result.
While players can redownload and play NBA 2K25 after Oct. 30, from December 31 the online servers will be shut down: “As of January 1, 2027, you’ll no longer be able to play multiplayer games or access any online game modes,” aside from 2K. In addition, Virtual Currency will no longer be available to earn, with MyTeam and MyCareer no longer working after that date. MyCareer is a single-player mode that one would expect to remain playable after the shut off date, but as it’s progress is tied to VC premium currency, the mode has to suffer the same fate.
Play Now, MyNBA, The W and MyNBA modes are the only ones that will remain active after December 31, although any content that requires the game to connect to 2K servers will no longer be available.
NBA 2K25 was released for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One in September 2024, and you can read our full verdict here. The game features Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum as the Standard Edition cover star, while Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson graces the front of the WNBA Edition.
