One of the most lucrative licenses in the videogame industry is no doubt James Bond. Following Rareware’s successful N64 release GoldenEye 007 and subsequent transition to Electronic Arts, the Bond license now finds itself in the hands of Project Gotham developer, Bizarre Creations.
In September, Activision (which now owns the Bond license) acquired Bizarre Creations, with the intention of setting the videogame-racing genre on fire with a possible new IP, while another Activision studio handles the next Bond movie tie-in game. Now it appears that Bizarre could also be working on their rendition of a Bond title as well.
No official word has been given on this as of yet, but it could be possible that gamers will not get only one Bond title from Activision, but two possible titles in conjunction with the new Bond film, both with different themes, plot, and settings. Project Gotham Racing: James Bond Edition perhaps? Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what boils up from this.
Bond 22, as the sequel to Casino Royale is called, is set to start filming January 2008 with a November 2008 worldwide release. Daniel Craig will take the helm of James Bond again while Marc Forster holds the director duties. PSU will keep you posted on this.
Looks like 2008 could be a great year for Bond fans.
