New FFXIII-2 details emerge

Square’s continuing to drip-feed us fresh Final Fantasy XIII-2 tidbits in wake of the game’s E3 media blowout, this time from the pages of Japanese publications Shonen Jump and Dengeki.

According to the magazines (via Andriasang), the RPG sequel is currently 70 percent complete, and features individual AI for town-based NPCs. Furthermore, hero Noel will apparently play a more significant role than FFXIII’s returning heroine Lightning – Snow’s back, too.

Also fresh to the table is what’s known as the Live Trigger dialogue system, which allows players to engage in interactive conversations, opening up new content on subsequent play-throughs. Apparently, the system will make conversations more enjoyable.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2012.
