New Grand Theft Auto VI Details Revealed, Includes Player Consequences, Working Out, Huge NPC Variety & More

Rob Nelson, Head of Development and Co-Studio Head at Rockstar North, has revealed a slew of new Grand Theft Auto VI details ahead of the much-anticipated Netflix showcase later today during an interview with Dazed.

Fortunately, X user Shinobi602 was kind enough to offer a summary of the new details revealed, which we’ve included below. They include details on player consequences, the fact the story is described as a ‘Bonnie and Clyde’ affair with the focus on the relationship between Jason and Lucia, as well as the fact weight lifting will visibly tone your character’s muscles.

▪️Jason is ex-military and a drug runner, Lucia is a fighter fresh out of prison

▪️You can play as a couple or cause chaos independently

▪️On the way to a job, you switch between driving or the other character in the passenger seat, scroll on your phone, etc

▪️Seamlessly swap between each during a mission

▪️Story is very “Bonnie and Clyde” where Jason and Lucia’s relationship is front and center

▪️Choices can have repercussions and “cut much deeper than Rockstar’s previous titles or honor systems”

▪️Rockstar wants to enable “as much self-expression as possible without losing the essence of the characters”

▪️Exercising returns, working out visibly builds and tones your muscles

▪️Food affects your weight

▪️Spending a long time without sleep, running from police or on a multi-day bender will have an effect on Jason and Lucia

▪️Filled with things to discover, Rockstar spent years on the ground in Miami and surrounding areas for research

▪️Rockstar met with ex-criminals, law enforcement, club promoters, gun dealers and other notorious real-life people to help bring the world to life

▪️Rockstar developed new tools and pipelines that enabled them to “build the most detailed and varied character population we’ve ever created”

▪️Rockstar has more than doubled in size since RDR2

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This week, the game suffered a number of leaks showcasing large chunks of gameplay and story details, prompting Rockstar Games to issue a formal statement on the subject.
