New Klonoa Trademark Registered In UK By Bandai Namco

A trademark for Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series has been filed in the UK by Bandai Namco Entertainment, further suggesting a revival for the classic platform franchise is on the cards.

Back in September, the company registered a trademark in Japan for Waffuu Encore and 1&2 Encore, which pertains to Klonoa’s catchphrase Wahoo, which Bandai Namco presumably translated as Waffuu.

This isn’t the only time that the publisher has hinted that Klonoa is making a comeback. Back in 2019, the company filed a Klonoa Encore trademark alongside Mr. Driller Encore and Splatterhouse Encore.

While nothing official has been announced yet, the 1&2 Encore registered a few months back implies that the original Klonoa and its sequel are getting the remastering treatment.

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile was released for the PSOne back in 1997, and was followed by the PS2 sequel Klonoa: Lunatea’s Veil in 2001. The last time the series saw the light of day was in 2009’s Klonoa for the Wii, a side-scrolling platformer developed by Paeon as a remake of the first game.
