The Mafia 3 PS4 Pro update is available to download now, and bumps up the game’s resolution to 1,440 pixels from the standard 1080p version. However, unless you are gaming on a PS4 Pro armed with a 4K TV, you aren’t really going to notice any major differences. Despite this, even if you’re playing on a standard PS4, you can still take advantage of improved animations, which are noticeably more crisp and fluid thanks to the patch.
Elsewhere, the Mafia 3 frame rate is overall far more stable at its 30fps performance, which helps during the more intense moments where the frame rate has been known to dip to around 26fps.
Mafia 3 takes place during the swingin’ sixties in a fictionalised version of New Orleans, USA, where players attempt to establish their own criminal empire as Lincoln Clay; a Vietnam veteran who returns home to seek revenge against the Italian mobsters who brutally slaughtered members of the Black Mob.
