Konami has said that a new Metal Gear series is being planned following the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain this year, with the project currently seeking ‘key staff’ to support the games.
According to a translation of a press release posted on Konami’s official Japanese website, the industry giant is planning to “embark on production of a new ‘Metal Gear’ series" following The Phantom Pain, and is looking to "begin the audition of key staff” for the project.
The news comes following yesterday’s reports that Hideo Kojima, the creator of the Metal Gear series, had left Konami after his name was removed from all products on Konami’s website.
In addition, Kojima Productions’ website has been taken down, while the company’s Los Angeles branch was renamed.
According to GameSpot sources, the issues stem from a falling out between Kojima Productions and Konami, resulting in Kojima-san planning to leave the company once The Phantom Pain has been released.
