New PS3 firmware update to improve music playability

Sony has stated that the company aims to continue expanding upon the media functions of the PlayStation 3.

According to a recent report, "within a month, a software upgrade will improve the PS3’s interface for music stored and played through the system."

Sony Computer Entertainment America’s Patrick Seybold, however, emphasizes "we haven’t made any specific announcements on upcoming firmware." Could it be In-Game XMB? We can only speculate.

It will be interesting to see what Sony plans to offer consumers in North America. While Europe gets PVR capabilities, the US has yet to receive any similar form of functionality.

Peter Dille, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SCEA added, "Some of that same functionality are things that we’re working on here."

Stay tuned for more information as it breaks.
