A brand new model of the disc PS5 has popped up in Australia, and it’s reportedly much lighter than the previous version.
New CFI-1200 series models are lighter than the launch model, according to a report from Press Start. It’s even now as light as the digital edition was at launch.
The CFI-1202B model digital edition also reportedly weighs less, from 3.9kg to 3.4kg. The disc-based console is down from 4.5kg at launch to 3.9kg.
We know that Sony will continue to make beneficial changes like this to the PS5, so it’s not a big surprise to see a lighter model. However there’s still no clarity as to what has made it lighter, in comparison to launch models.
That mystery will likely be solved soon though, as plenty of people, not to mention content creators will be looking to source these new models and get a look inside them to see what’s changed.
