New Resident Evil 6 info surfaces

Capcom celebrated Resident Evil’s 15th anniversary in Japan earlier today with a special press event, dropping a few tantalizing tidbits on the recently revealed Resident Evil 6 in the process.

The game’s executive producer, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, said that in addition to heroes Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield, players would also encounter a third playable character, described as “the man who’s told to save the world.”

In terms of enemies, Kobayashi-san confirmed that the old-school zombies are indeed returning (as evidenced in the trailer), and mentioned a brand-new enemy, Javo, which will have an ‘even greater impact than the zombies.’

Apparently, there are ‘many secrets’ surrounding the zombies this time around, and it seems Capcom’s two key concepts for the goal of ‘ultimate horror’ are ‘the fear that lies ahead’ and ‘everything is overwhelming.’

Resident Evil 6 also boasts the biggest staff count in the series’ history at 150, a figure that grows to over 600 when factoring all other contributors.

The game hits stores on November 20 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version following at a later date.
