A fresh batch of spine-chilling new details have surfaced today for Resident Evil Requiem, aka Resident Evil 9, from press going hands-on with a 30-minute demo of the survival horror title following its reveal last Friday.
As previously speculated, newcomer Grace Ashcroft is indeed related to Resident Evil Outbreak’s Alyssa Ashcroft, and works as an FBI agent investigating a series of grisly murders. As reported by IGN, there’s a menu option to select from first and third-person viewpoint, with the demo starting out in first-person like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village and switching to third-person toward the end.

The demo sees Grace traversing the moody corridors of Wrenwood Hotel while activating lights, unlocking doors, and coming up against a blood-thirsty creature that takes a bite out of her shoulder. Grace is able to heal herself with a syringe rather than the life-giving herbs of previous games, before bolting for a safe spot to hide while the danger passes.
Traditional Resident Evil item collecting is also present, as hands-on impressions reveal Grace was able to pick up a lighter, screwdriver, and fuse to aid her progress. Other than that, it appears to have been a pretty brief demo devoid of the usual combat; it’s expected Leon will fill this void as the rumoured second playable character.
Resident Evil Requiem was announced during Summer Game Fest last Friday, with Capcom announcing the game will launch for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on February 26, 2026.
