Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has poured cold water on rumours that Sucker Punch Productions is working on a new Sly Cooper game.
Chatter on a new entry in the stealth-based franchise cropped up over the weekend, after Jeff Grubb suggested that the reason why Ghost of Tsushima 2 is taking so long is because Sucker Punch is working on a new Sly Cooper game. However, this was merely Jeff speculating; he never actually gave us a reason to assume it was definitely happening.
Sure enough, the rumour started doing the rounds on social media, prompting Schreier to post the following on Twitter:
No truth to this one, sorry to say. Sucker Punch is a one-project studio. The reason Ghost of Tsushima 2 isn’t out yet is because AAA video games now take 5-7 years to make. (Also, Sucker Punch is smaller than most other AAA game developers).

Sucker Punch Productions worked on the Sly Cooper franchise from its inception in 2002 to 2005, after which Sanzaru Games took over. The most recent entry in the series, Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time, launched in 2013, so a comeback is long overdue.
