The new Splinter Cell title currently in development at Ubisoft Toronto will attempt to explore one of the series’ overlooked root themes.
That’s according to the studio’s managing director, Jade Raymond, who said that although the new game – rumored to be subtitled Retribution – will still contain action elements, it’ll also focus on more ‘interesting’ properties.
"It will have all of the action flick elements for sure, but we’re trying to also explore something a little bit more interesting that is actually one of the themes that’s at the root of the franchise historically, but never has been surfaced so much," she told CVG. "I can’t really say more on this!"
Little else is known about the game at present, though Raymond has previously hinted that an announcement on the stealth-action sequel will drop fairly soon.
Raymond previously worked as producer on the original Assassin’s Creed, and served as executive producer on its 2009 sequel.
