New Sucker Punch PS4 game is a new IP — rumor

It looks as if the new long-in-development PS4 title from inFAMOUS developer Sucker Punch Productions is in fact a new IP, that is according to known industry insider Shinobi602.

Speaking in a NeoGAF thread related to the cancellation of Hideki Kamiya’s Scalebound, user Shinobi602, who has a proven track record with industry insight, offhandedly mentioned, alongside what other developers are currently working away on, that Sucker Punch is hard at work on a new IP.

If true, it marks the first morsel of news to come out about the tightly-knit company since President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida mentioned his excitement having played the game prior to E3 2015.

With the bombshell that the in-development Spider-Man title that was revealed at last year’s E3 was actually the work of Insomniac Games rather than Sucker Punch we’d hazard a guess and say that the Washington-based developer’s latest offering will be revealed at this year’s E3 in June with view of a release in early 2018. After all, the last game to come out of the studio was inFAMOUS First Light, the standalone expansion to Second Son which released way back in 2014.

What sort of game do you think Sucker Punch is currently hard at work at? When do you think it’ll be announced/released? Let us know in the comments section below.
