Bandai Namco Games has shared a wealth of new Tekken 7 details at Gamescom 2016 this week, confirming the upcoming fighting game sequel will feature hours of story-related content.
Tekken 7’s campaign will feature an extensive history of the Mishima family, including a segment where a young Kazuya is facing off against his father, Heihachi, who looks like a spring chicken in comparison to his aging appearance in the current-day timeline.
Furthermore, players will be able to unlock subplots in the Tekken universe as they progress through the campaign, as well as details regarding non-Mishima clan members, such as newcomer Claudio.
Elsewhere, long-time combatant Lee Chaolan has been confirmed to appear in Tekken 7, as well as his alter ego, Violet. You can check him out in action here.
Tekken 7 is scheduled for release in early 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game’s storyline revolves around the conclusion of the long-running Mishima family feud, and introduces a host of new characters, such as the series’ first ever Saudi Arabian brawler, Shaheen.
In addition, the venerable franchise has also injected some new gameplay mechanics into the mix, such as the Rage Arts and Tailspin mechanic, allowing you to extend combos as your opponent hits the ground.
