New Virtua Fighter Battle Rules Revealed, Includes New Dynamic Momentum-Shifting Uprising Mechanic

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and SEGA have lifted the lid on a bunch of key info on the upcoming new Virtua Fighter currently in development, confirming two distinct battle rules will be featured: Standard and Uprising.

The Standard battle rule is something that fans will be familiar with, namely where you achieve victory by either scoring a KO or knocking your opponent out o the ring. Matches are one by securing three rounds. Uprising is a new rule that offers dynamic momentum-shifting opportunities, with a ‘new gameplay concept’ setting it apart from the standard battle rule.

Meanwhile, Virtua Fighter includes three battle systems. First is Break & Rush, is a dynamic damage accumulation mechanic, where a targeted break becomes available after specific regions of the body haven taken repeated hits. Landing a break attack gives you a strategic advantage, where new offensive opportunities will present themselves. Stunner and Stun Combo adds a new ‘Stunner’ strike technique, offering a new combo mechanic that puts emphasis on fluidity and realism while removing complex inputs.

A stylish new defensive mechanic, the Flow Guard system emphasizes fluid motion and visual flair. Working in tandem with the Break & Rush system, it introduces dynamic shifts in offense and defense across a variety of combat situations.

The new Virtua Fighter game is currently in development at RGG Studio and has yet to attract a release date.
