Koei Tecmo has announced that Nioh 3‘s Hell Rising DLC is slated to launch on August 19, 2026 for PS5, and is included in the game’s Season Pass.
Hell Rising sees Takechiyo travelling through time and finds himself a futuristic Endo, where the future Takechiyo has been killed and thus bringing an era of peace to an end. Endo has since been retaken by the Crucible, and so Takechiyo faces another plot revolving around Spirit Stones and an enemy that harbours a strong resentment towards the shogunate. In addition to the new Edo location, players will also have access to a bunch of new weapons in the form of the Hako Shield and Ninja Hook Shield, which offer a combination of defensive and offensive capabilities, respectively.
Takechiyo will face new enemies with unprecedented strength, including Yagyu Jubei, a one-eyed swordsman, and as such must grow his own abilities by obtaining new equipment and Soul Cores.
Fight highly customizable battles over and over again, while carefully selecting the effects of Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls to create self-imposed challenges. Winning the unique battles of each scroll will enable players to unlock that scroll as a piece of equipment and earn the chance to obtain special effects by winning further battles. The combination of enemies, stages, and special rules offer countless variations. Highly valuable scrolls may also appear at times.
Nioh 3 was released for PS5 and PC in February 2026, and you can read our full review here.
