One of the biggest fears, we, as gamers have, is that a company may try to milk a franchise for all it’s worth by releasing titles on a yearly basis. This epidemic inevitably leads to poorer and poorer results until finally, the fans of the game give up and move on to greener pastures.
Thankfully, Rock Band is looking as though it will not fall victim to this problem. Speaking at the Billboard CES Session today, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopolous has confirmed that there will be no new installment of the title in 2009.
This is without a doubt a very smart decision by Electronic Arts and should do nothing but help build the anticipation for the next iteration some time in 2010, if not 2011.
