Nolan North replacing Peter Dinklage as Destiny’s Ghost

Bungie has announced that it has brought in Nolan North to provided the voice of Destiny’s Ghost, replacing original actor Peter Dinklage in the process.

Not only will North provide all-new dialogue for Ghost in The Taken King expansion, but the Uncharted voice actor will be re-recording all of Dinklage’s work from Year One, thus replacing the much-loved ‘Dinklebot’ in the process.

“I was really excited to do this role,” North told Game Informer. “You want to give him as much personality as the world will allow, without making it unbelievable. There’s a fine line to walk there, and I think we found it.

“It’s interesting, because at one point they find another Ghost that’s been killed,” added North. “A Ghost is not just something that can be turned back on. It has an idea of ending. It understands mortality. It has a vested interest in helping you succeed.”

North, who is perhaps most famous for his role as Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series, said that he’s put his own stamp on the character.

“They really wanted me to put my stamp on it,” he said. “They let me bring what I wanted to the role. You have to give it your own spin. For that reason, I specifically said I didn’t want to hear anything that someone else had done, so that I didn’t have some preconceived notion of what it has to be. Instead, I just gave it my stamp, and let them direct me accordingly.”

Bungie also confirmed that The Taken King will do away with the Light system present in the Year One version of Destiny, instead utilizing a traditional EXP levelling process.

The expansion will be available in September for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
