Sony has announced that its PlayStation 3 console managed to shift upwards of 3.5 million units of software for the month of November 2008, representing a whopping 150 percent growth from the start of the year.
News come following the latest NPD figures for last month, where PS3 sold through 378,000 units of hardware, as previously reported. Hardware growth for November totalled USD 261 million, up 9 percent from the previous year. Despite this, the console received a thorough kicking from Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which outsold the Sony platform by a ratio of 2:1.
Meanwhile, PlayStation format software revenue clocked in at USD 352 million, representing a growth of 16 percent sine January.
Let’s hope Sony’s hardware prospects will prove more rewarding over the Christmas holidays.
