Nintendo continues to draw in more sales than its competitors, as the March NPD Group figures show the DS took the top spot in America with more than 700,000 units sold. The figures do not distinguish between the recently released DSi XL, which likely added to the big sales stats.
For its part, Sony sold 313,900 PlayStation 3s in March, 119,900 PSPs, and the ever present PlayStation 2 sold 118,300. It’s impressive that, given the PS2’s age, it still sold more than 100,000 units in March.
In addition to landing the top spot in March, Nintendo sold 557,500 Wiis, accounting for more than half the total hardware sales last month. The Xbox 360 came in third with 338,400 units sold.
