It was pretty clear going into tonight’s NPD Group April sales stats that the month’s software wouldn’t compete with last month’s. After all, last month we had God of War III and Final Fantasy XIII, giving the PlayStation 3 a huge boost.
This month is quite a different story, across all platforms. On top in April was Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction on Xbox 360. Notable for Sony is God of War III selling 180,000 units and Super Street Fighter IV selling 143,000.

Sony could use some big releases like Gran Turismo 5 (hint, hint) to put it back on the top.
