Nvidia CEO Says Worldwide Chip Shortages Will Continue Throughout 2022

Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, has said that the ongoing worldwide chip shortages are likely to continue throughout 2022, thus impacting the supply line for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Speaking with Yahoo! Finance, Huang reckons that demand is going to exceed supply, although for Nivida, the company is “fortunate that we’re multi-source and that our supply chain is diverse.”

I think that through the next year, demand is going to far exceed supply. We don’t have any magic bullets in navigating the supply chain. We have the support of our suppliers. We’re fortunate that we’re multi-sourced and that our supply chain is diverse and our company is quite large so we have the support of a large ecosystem around us.

Nvidia isn’t the only major company that expects semiconductor supply issues to continue into next year. Last month, AMD said that it reckons that supply problems will extend into 2022.

Supply issues have dogged Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles since their launch in November 2020, and Sony has reportedly cut its production goals in wake of chip shortages.
