Okami HD coming exclusively to PS3 with Move support

Though it came to us near the end of the PlayStation 2’s life cycle, Okami is fondly remembered for both its lush, vibrant art style and splendid mix of action, platforming, and RPG elements. It’s a good thing, then, that Sony and Capcom have seen fit to give the game a full HD remaster.

Announced moments ago via the official PlayStation Blog, Okami HD will recast players as sun goddess Amaterasu. In the form of a wolf, Amaterasu must restore peace and order to the land after its devastation by the demonic Orochi. The biggest draw is the Celestial Brush, a magical object that gives you interactive control over the environment. Swipes, circles, and slashes can all be used to cut through obstacles and enemies or even control the elements.

The HD remaster of Okami will be displayed in "fully integrated HD graphics" and will come packaged with a Platinum Trophy and PlayStation Move support. Honestly, if you don’t own a PlayStation Move, this might be the title to convince you. Natural brush strokes can be made with Move wand in hand, but if you’re keen on traditional controls, DualShock 3 is fully supported as well.

For now, it seems the game will only be made available digitally. Look for it this fall. Sound off in the comments if you’re excited to relive one of Capcom’s finest titles on PlayStation 3!
