Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remaster Hell Difficulty Mode Is So Brutal Only A Few Of Its Dev Team Have Beaten It

The game director on Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remaster has revealed that the game’s new Hell difficulty setting is so challenging that there’s only a few people on the team that have actually beaten it.

Automaton attended a media interview with Motohide Eshiro, who revealed during the chat that only “one or two people” have been able to conquer Hell Mode, explaining that it’s tailored for those “who are confident in their skills.”

Hell mode is very challenging and is implemented for those who are confident in their skills. If you clear it, you will want to brag to others. However, you can save during the game, so even if you are not that confident, I think you will be able to play it to a certain extent if you proceed carefully.

If you’re wondering just how difficult Hell mode is, the game will end after your character takes just a single strike from an enemy. Beyond this new difficulty setting, the Onimusha 2 Remaster will feature a new gallery mode featuring over 100 sketches by Keita Amemiya, a digital soundtrack , and of course revamped high-definition visuals and improved controls.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remaster is slated for release on PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One on May 23, 2025. The game was originally released for the PS2 back in 2002 and takes place in medieval Japan, with players following Jubei Yagyu as he battles against a demonic army serving under Nobunaga Oda.
