While veteran Onimusha fans are most excited for the upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the first new entry into the franchise in years, to tide them over ahead of that, Capcom announced a remaster of a classic Onimusha title.
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is getting a remaster that’ll launch sometime later this year, arriving on PS4. Announced during today’s Capcom Spotlight Showcase, the remaster brings the classic action title off the PlayStation 2 and into the modern-era.
From the look of the trailer, it seems like it’ll be a pretty straightforward remaster, one that keeps the general look of the original game when it comes to character and asset models.
Hopefully there will be other modern improvements though, like a higher frame rate, quality-of-life upgrades to the controls, and/or even just more ways for players to adjust their gameplay experience with various gameplay adjusting sliders.
Unfortunately we don’t have any of those details for now, but we do have this 45-second trailer revealing the remaster that you can check out for yourself, below.
