Capcom fans may be clamouring for a video game reboot of Onimusha, but for now, the next best thing is the upcoming Netflix anime based on the samurai action franchise, which is set to premiere on November 2, 2023!
The Onimusha series is being directed Takashi Miike and follows Miyamoto Musashi, who is modelled after legendary Japanese film icon Toshiro Mifune. Based on Capcom’s video series that’s set in Japan’s feudal Sengoku period, Onimusha promises ‘realistic action’ as Musashi battles evil while traversing a land plagued by poverty.

The Onimusha franchise debuted back in 2001 for the PS2 with Onimusha Warlords, which has its origins dating back to 1997 as a Sengoku-set Resident Evil title. The original game spawned a successful franchise that included Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, Onimusha 3: Demon Siege, and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, the latter being the final core entry in the series not counting 2018’s remaster of the original game.
