The PlayStation Vita is just around the corner. We’ve already reviewed a bunch of Vita games (more reviews coming soon), and we’re even running a contest to give one away!
Since this is a pretty pivotal moment for both Sony and gamers in 2012, we thought we might compile a list of what we’re looking forward to—or have been—playing in terms of Vita launch titles. Here we go.
Timothy Nunes // Staff Writer, PSU.com – Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Many would argue that big IPs sell consoles, and a name like Uncharted has almost taken over the Playstation franchise. With a game like this, the Vita could take a strong hold in the West. Plus, all of the Uncharted games have been both memorable and entertaining. This almost feels like a definite must-have game for early adopters and late entries alike; treasure-hunting on the go brings out the best in gamers.
Don Oliveira // East Coast Editor, PSU.com – ModNation Racers: Road Trip
I find it odd that I’m choosing the next MNR over Uncharted: Golden Abyss, but this one is solely due to the fact that I myself have been craving a kart racing game. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a fan of the wipEout games, but I have more fun in super creative and involved communities like the ones found in a ModNation Racers, LittleBigPlanet, or even Minecraft. That’s not a knock against any other Vita launch game; I simply just anticipate the near future where everyone is playing this one multiplayer-focused game at once. In my eyes, ModNation‘s racing is on par with any concurrent Mario Kart game and I believe Road Trip will ‘wow’ people day one—lack of true multiplayer and all.
Adam Dolge // Executive Editor, PSU.com – FIFA Soccer
I’m looking forward to a bunch of launch day games, but I surprise myself a bit that I’m most excited for FIFA Soccer. I’m a huge soccer (ready football for everywhere outside the U.S.) and I think EA hasn’t done a great job with handheld versions in the past. The rear touch pad integration seems it could be unique and make for a more touch-and-go experience. Plus, I’d love to take my career with Arsenal on my way to work on the metro. It sure beats pretending to read the lifestyle and music section of our local tabloid. I’m also pretty excited for the new Hot Shots Golf: World Invitation. I have fond memories of the PSP versions and playing Ad Hoc with buddies while waiting for a movie to start in the cinema. I’m holding my breath on games like Silent Hill Book of Memories and Little Deviants, but I think the whole launch day lineup has a lot to offer just about everyone. Now give us a good RPG and we’ll be all set.
So there you have it, folks. That just goes to show how diverse we are here at the PSU Towers when it comes to what we like playing. With a launch lineup as big as the Vita’s, we’re sure there’s at least one game that you’re dying to get your hands on, right?
