Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has said that Sony managed to move 312,000 PlayStation 3 consoles in North America during the month of September 2010.
The number puts Sony’s flagship gaming platform ahead of the Wii for the month but behind Xbox 360, with Nintendo and Microsoft’s consoles shifting 254,000 and 484,000 units each, respectively.
It was a pretty glum month overall, though, with hardware sales down for both Sony and Nintendo year-on-year – PS3’s performance dipped by 37 percent, while Wii sales were down a whopping 45 percent compared to the same period in 2009.
Still, sales of PlayStation Move have impressed during its first month at retail, with Sony recently commenting that the motion-sensing peripheral has done “extremely” well across the United States.
