Sony announced overnight that Palworld is finally available for the PS5 after months of speculation, but the game’s Japanese release has stalled.
While Palworld is available in 68 countries, the official Japanese account for the popular title revealed that its release date for that region “has not yet been decided.” No further details are available right now, but it’s widely speculated that the reason for Palworld skipping Japan is due to Nintendo and the Pokemon Company having filed a lawsuit for patent infringement against Pocketpair.

Speaking in wake of the lawsuit, the Palworld developer had the following to say:
We have received notice of this lawsuit and will begin the appropriate legal proceedings and investigations into the claims of patent infringement. At this moment, we are unaware of the specific patents we are accused of infringing upon, and we have not been notified of such details.
Palworld was originally released for PC and Xbox Series X/S back in January, and is now available for PS5.
