Even though Blu-Ray has sold a higher amount of movies then its competitor HD-DVD, it seems that Paramount Pictures went ahead and followed up exclusively with HD-DVD. In a surprising effort, they have supposedly signed a 150 million dollar deal to specifically stop being exclusive with the Blu-Ray format.
By Paramount going ahead with this, all of Paramount’s properties go through to HD-DVD although excluding works directed by Steven Spielberg. We definitely think that this move not only lengthens the format war, but forces consumers to choose a format purely based on corporation standards.
