Remember that “big” announcement for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker that Hideo Kojima teased earlier in the week? Well, the cat’s out of the bag – it’s a Monster Hunter collaboration.
As revealed in the latest issue of Famitsu magazine (as well as a press conference in Tokyo earlier today), the collaboration will pit Snake against various beasties such as Tigrex, Velocriprey, as well as witnessing a cameo from Monster Hunter mascot, Felyne.
Still, the crossover shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise to long time followers of Kojima’s stealthy masterpiece, given that the series has witnessed numerous collaborations with popular franchises over the years, such as Ape Escape popping up in MGS3. Plus, let’s not forget that Monster Hunter is something of a portable phenomenon in Japan, and has been for the past few years.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be sneaking on to store shelves across Japan at the end of the month, with a North American release coming on June 8.
