The game director behind Phantom Blade Zero has hammered home in a Q&A posted on X that the game doesn’t fit into the category of soulslike, insisting the team never set out to make such a title in the first place.
On the topic of the playable demo, the Q&A confirmed that the teaser is not yet ready for testing on a large scale, but rather in a controlled environment.

The demo we’re providing is offline only. We are really sorry about the disappointment and beg your forgiveness, dear eager gamers who are reading this. The unvarnished truth is that this demo simply isn’t ready for testing on a large scale. At SGF, we have already seen some frame rate issues and occasional crashes.
The post added that the developer “will get to find out what its issues are without being overwhelmed by feedback, so we are taking this step for now.”
Phantom Blade Zero is currently in development at S-GAME and has yet to attract a release date.
