PixelJunk Shooter 2 will be released on the North American PlayStation Network on March 1, announced Q-Games President Dylan Cuthbert on the PlayStation Blog. It’ll arrive in Europe a mere 24 hours later (March 2), according to Cuthbert’s post on the EU PS Blog.
The basic premise of PJS2 is similar to that of the original: in an underground craft, players must blast their way through three two-dimensional worlds to rescue stranded scientists. Old liquids like water and lava will return, accompanied by new fluids like acid, light, and bubbles.
Unlike the first PixelJunk Shooter, the sequel features an online versus mode. Players can use over 20 abilities and weapons to dominate their opponents in competitive play.
The original PixelJunk Shooter garnered a huge amount of praise from gaming critics and fans alike, winning PSU’s Best Puzzle Game of 2010 award among others.
No official pricing details for PixelJunk Shooter 2 have been released, but we expect it to fall somewhere in the $10-15 range. Stay tuned for more details.
