Platinum Games upcoming self-published title currently known as Project GG is, according to the studio, “unlike anything else” we’ve seen from Platinum.
A new interview with website Famitsu via VGC has now revealed more about the title, as Takao Yamane, the studio’s new vice president and other executives talk about a bit more about Project GG, and that we might get our first real look at it during E3 2023.
While details on the games development were not shared, vice president Hideki Kamiya does say that this game won’t be all action, though it is similar to previous titles from the studio in that it revolves around a single core mechanic.
Kamiya also remarked how the game changed greatly during development, as it was looking to be a more purely action oriented game.
“If we had produced the game in its original form, it would probably have been produced as a pure action game, as it has been up to now. However, [Atsushi] Inaba’s ambitions took over and the game expanded greatly. So this game will not end up being all action.”
Atsushi Inaba, the studio’s president, also remarked that the scale of the game expanded greatly following an investment in the company from Tencent.
While we know very little about Project GG now, there is reportedly a hint as to what the game’s “core mechanic” will be in the initial teaser for the title, if you can find it.
