PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan Reportedly Said ‘I Don’t Want A New Call Of Duty Deal, I Want To Block Your Merger’

Jim Ryan, CEO and President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, reportedly pulled no punches during a closed-door hearing with EU regulators last month, telling Activision and Microsoft that, “I don’t want a new Call of Duty deal. I just want to block your merger.”

That’s according to Activision’s Lulu Cheng Meservey, who claimed that Ryan’s comments came on February 21, after which Microsoft held a press conference in Brussels to unveil licensing deals for Call of Duty with Nintendo and NVIDIA, where it pledged to bring the multi-million selling franchise to 150 million more people — a figure combining Switch and GeForce Now platforms.

In related news, Microsoft offered to have new Call of Duty games released on PlayStation Plus from day one, although Sony has recently said expressed concern that the Xbox format holder deliberately sabotage the ‘quality and performance‘ of Call of Duty games on PlayStation formats.
