PlayStation Now open beta launches in NA, Sony reducing some rentals to $1.99

The PlayStation Now Open beta kicks off in the U.S. and Canada today allowing PS4 owners to stream a host of PS3 games from the cloud servers.

The service will kick off with more than 100 titles that will be available to rent via the PlayStation Store across various time periods, including 4-hours, 7-days and 30-days.

All titles will allow the use of cloud game saves and feature friend’s lists, leaderboards and Trophies, as well as full online multiplayer integration. A new video released today shows a walkthrough of the Open Beta.

During the PlayStation Now private beta some users critised the service for the pricing structure which included 90-day rentals costing up to $29.99. However, Sony has said that the prices are not locked in and are subject to change. In a few weeks, Sony has said that some 4-hour rentals will be reduced from the current price of $4.99 to $1.99.

Sony plans to use the open beta to gather feedback from users to improve the service prior to its main launch later this year.
