Best Indie Game – Rocket League

Available to play entirely for free, with optional cosmetic microtransactions, there’s hours upon hours of fun to be had across three game modes, with each match totally unpredictable as you team up with others or go it alone against a passionate and competitive community.

Over 8 million copies of the date have been downloaded so far on PS4 and Steam with players entranced by Rocket League’s exhilarating blend of chaos and tactics. The satisfaction of scoring a goal or making an epic save is unrivaled, which is quite an achievement among more established franchises such as FIFA and PES.

Simple to grasp but tough to master, there’s something insanely addictive about Rocket League, and Psynoix deserves the coveted award for creating such an addictive multiplayer mash-up of cars and soccer. The fact that it’s playable for free too means that everyone can try it without risk. Once you do, you’ll find it hard to put down.

Runner-up – Divinity Original Sin

Intimidating, tough and thoroughly overwhelming, Divinity: Original Sin is no easy sell for those into a more modern RPG. Yet looking past that, you will find one of 2015’s deepest and most rewarding titles, full of wit, charm and deadly challenge, all within a world that is a joy to exist in.
