Speaking during an interview with The New York Times, Andrew House, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, confirmed that PlayStation VR sales have hit 915,000 to date.
House noted Sony’s virtual reality headset is performing especially strong in its native Japan, commenting, “You literally have people lining up outside stores when they know stock is being replenished.”
Sony has forecast sales of one million PSVR during its first six months on sale, which puts it at around mid-April. Given the success of the device so far, it looks set to easily meet and most likely surpass that figure. House added that PSVR supply will increase by April, and that the format holder hopes to begin selling the device in Latin America by fall 2017.

PSVR was released in October 2016 and supports a number of great PlayStation VR games, including exclusive games such as Batman: Arkham VR, DriveClub VR, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, plus third-party offerings including Resident Evil 7: biohazard and Tekken 7. Sony announced earlier this year that it has sold over 53 million PS4s worldwide since the console’s launch in November 2013.
