Project Morpheus on PS4 – ‘waiting for game titles to catch up with the hardware’

SCE hardware R&D engineer, Dennis Castleman says that Project Morpheus is “ready to go” and is now just waiting for the PS4 games to catch up with the hardware.

In a recent Facebook post (via Reddit), Castelman said:

In our case the HMD hardware is ready to go, we’re just waiting for the game titles to catch up with the hardware.

Due for release in 2016, Project Morpheus is a head-mounted display (HMD) for virtual reality (VR) that will be functional with the PS4 and PS Vita. Approximately 32 games have been confirmed for Project Morpheus, including ARK: Survival Evolved, Adrift and EVE Valkyrie, with many of the titles coming from indie studios.

Before the release date is confirmed, Project Morpheus needs a strong line-up of games to convince potential customers that its virtual reality unit is worth the investment. Sony has recently said it’s too early to announce a price for Project Morpheus, though rumours suggest that it may cost upwards of $300.
