Remember back when ARK: Survival Evolved was a PS Plus game for March 2022? Well, that was the result of Sony forking out a hefty $3.5 million to secure the game for its flagship subscription service, according to a September SEC filing.

Interestingly, Microsoft forked out $2.5 million to secure ARK for Game Pass for the first half of the year, and an additional $2.3 million to bring the sequel to the service when it sees the light of day.
ARK Survival Evolved was released in August 2017 for the PS4, PC and Xbox One, before rolling out for Android and iOS in June 2018 and Nintendo Switch in November 2018. The game takes the form of an action-adventure romp with a heavy emphasis on survival events, with players exploring an open world featuring a dynamic day & night cycle.
Developed by Studio Wildcards, ARK: Survival Evolved has been a massive success and continues to maintain a loyal fan base thanks to its strong post-launch over the past five years.
