PS Vita 2.00 update improves web browser

Sony has confirmed that PlayStation Vita’s upcoming firmware 2.00 update will improve the handheld’s web browser functions.

Writing on Twitter, Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS), revealed that the update will allow gamers to switch to the browser without quitting their current game among other improvements.

“One welcome change in tomorrow’s PS Vita FW2.0 will be the web browser becomes a ‘small app’, you won’t have to quit games to use it," said Yoshida-san.

"That’s little talked about but is a big change, and the browsing itself is faster than the current one :)"

Firmware 2.00 is due out in Europe on November 21, day-and-date with the launch of PlayStation Plus. Among the first batch of titles available to subscribers include Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush and Chronovolt.
