Sony initially rejected the idea of including a rear touch-pad on PlayStation Vita.
That’s according to Shuhei Yoshida, head of Sony Worldwide Studios, who told Famitsu (via Andriasang) that the reason the feature was dismissed at first was down to costs and doubts as to whether it could provide an enjoyable experience.
However, after testing it out a bit, Sony ultimately decided to give the feature the green light.
Elsewhere, Yoshida also revealed that Sony had been aiming for a price tag of 25,000 yen for the device ever since development on Vita kicked off around two years ago.
Vita is due out later this year in Japan, though western regions may have to wait until early 2012.
