PS Vita/PS3 ‘one price’ cross-play detailed

February 22 sees the launch of Sony’s new handheld, PlayStation Vita, and with it a slew of day one cross-play titles in the shape of MotorStorm RC, Hustle Kings, Top Darts and WipEout 2048.

To drive this new functionality, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) has confirmed details on its ‘one cost’ cross-play offer, allowing punters to save valuable pennies come launch day.

For starters, gamers who purchase MotorStorm RC will be able to play the game on both PS3 and PS Vita at no extra charge.

Buy Hustle Kings and/or Top Darts for Sony’s new handheld, you’ll bag the PS3 versions for free. Likewise, if you already own the games for PS3, you can download the PS Vita version at no additional cost.

Meanwhile, those of you who purchase WipEout 2048 and own WipEout HD and the HD Fury downloadable content for PS3 can download the latter in DLC form free of charge this spring.

Finally, if you own the PS3 version of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and have bought any DLC for the fighter, you can use it for the PS Vita version at no extra cost, and vice versa.

Said Sony: For those who already own any of these titles for their PS3 systems, will be able to download this same content to their PS Vita systems for free, and vice versa.   There is no need to pay for the same content twice, highlighting the importance of the relationship between PS3 and PS Vita.
