The latest hardware sales from Japan have started trickling on to the interwebs, confirming Sony’s PlayStation 3 has again managed to outperform Wii and Xbox 360 despite sales cooling off from previous weeks.
Sony’s platform sold 39,960 units for the period September 22-28, again beaten only by the DSi, which shifted just over 63,000 units in the same week. Meanwhile, PSP muscled in on third place with 17,334 units sold, though PS2 was stuck at the bottom of the pile, selling just 2347.
At last count, PS3 has managed to remain the highest selling home console (this doesn’t include handhelds, in which case it manages second) on a weekly basis in Japan for the past month following the launch of the revamped Slim model in early September.
