PS3 firmware v2.01 is out

The next firmware update for PS3, v2.01, has just been released via the PlayStation Network.

The update is cited as "a minor update that will improve the stability of the PS3." We’re assuming this will translate into fixes for recent odd occurrences such as your local PS3 turning itself on and booting directly into its remote play setting.

Hopefully, this new firmware will also resurrect the rare PS3’s that disagreed with firmware v2.00, refusing to start games among other things.

Once again, there are no new features with this firmware, just some stability upgrades. You’ll have to stay tuned for news of exciting new firmware features (in-game XMB) sometime in the future.
